Andrew Tate leaves a Bucharest court in handcuffs over allegations of human trafficking

Romanian authorities seized luxury cars from Andrew Tate’s estate as part of an investigation into alleged human trafficking.

Several cars, including a Rolls-Royce, BMW and Mercedes-Benz, were taken from the Tate complex on the outskirts of the capital Bucharest on Saturday to be transported to a warehouse.

Earlier this week, prosecutors said they had seized 15 luxury vehicles and more than 10 properties and homes belonging to suspects in Bucharest, Prahova and Brasov counties to prevent the sale or concealment of assets.

Organized crime prosecutors arrested Tate, his brother Tristan and two Romanian women on December 29 on suspicion of forming a criminal gang to sexually abuse six women. They denied the crime.

The former kickboxer recently lost an appeal against a judge’s earlier decision to extend his detention from 24 hours to 30 days.

This week, he was seen for the first time since his arrest walking to court in handcuffs with his brother.

How Andrew Tate Became the Poster Boy of the Far Right | Comment

Katherine Denkinsonon how an influential person came to infamy: Andrew Tate should be a curse to people who spend half their time telling us they are no far right. But instead, he became a well-dressed, opulent caricature of a successful “alpha male” doing high-profile television interviews with people like Piers Morgan.

Julia Hartley-Brewer, who tweeted that she would prefer Tate’s lifestyle to that of “destructive eco-cultist” Greta Thunberg, later claimed she didn’t really know who Tate was, calling him “irrelevant.” She has since decided that Tate is in fact a “nasty misogynist”.

Interestingly, earlier this week, Hartley-Brewer also appeared on TalkTV discussing the actions of the rioters in Brazil and during the Capitol uprising, claiming that “what happened with … Trump and Bolsonaro started on the left.”

The concept of the left being responsible for the uprising on the Capitol has been around since 2021, when on January 6, Republicans pressured it to turn its back on its own actions. It has been overthrown many times, but remains strong within the QAnon conspiracy circle, which sees the Left and Antifa as working for power – while they represent the disenfranchised “alternative right,” a group that could claim Tate as one of their own. The Capitol claim is one of the more blatant examples of conspiracy theories making their way into mainstream news, but not the only one.
