Emma Corrin once thought they were attacked by bees while filming a TV miniseries after taking “very strong” painkillers.
Corrin, who identifies as non-binary, was featured as one of thirty celebrities featured in British Vogue’s Hollywood 2023 portfolio published on Friday. During the brief interview, the 27-year-old recalled his “funniest time on set” while filming the FX miniseries “Retreat” in New Jersey.
“I was getting my wisdom teeth in, so they gave me some really strong American painkillers,” Corrin said. “I was so unconscious I thought bees had attacked me. They had to send me home because I was chasing the bees off every take.”
“Retreat” is a murder mystery that follows Darby Hart (Corrin), a Gen Z amateur detective who tries to solve a murder while in solitary confinement. My Central Jersey reported that shooting for the series began in spring 2022.
Corrin has previously shared behind-the-scenes details about her various projects. More recently, Corrin – who played Princess Diana in Netflix’s The Crown – starred in the streaming service’s Lady Chatterley’s Lover. During an interview on “The Graham Norton Show” in November 2022, Corrin told Norton that they agreed to make the film after reading a “crazy scene” where the two characters “dance naked in the rain”.
“When I got the script, Laure, our director was already hooked, and she’s amazing, and there was a crazy scene where they both dance naked in the rain,” Corrin said. “For some reason I thought, ‘Yes, sign me up!
They continued, “I think it was certainly the most exciting thing I’ve ever done in my life. In filmmaking, that’s pretend, so it’s rare that you’re in a situation where you literally think and feel exactly how your character would be. Being completely naked in the Welsh countryside meant you didn’t have to pretend anything, you just felt it and it was amazing.”
