- Prince Harry borrowed Tom Hardy’s “Mad Max” costume for an evening out with Meghan Markle.
- In his new memoir, Spare, he wrote that the costume made him “unrecognizable”.
- “I wish I could wear this disguise every day,” he said.
On his last night of freedom before his relationship with Meghan Markle was confirmed to the world, Prince Harry says he borrowed Mad Max actor Tom Hardy’s costume for a Halloween party in Toronto.
In the Duke of Sussex’s new memoir Spare, Prince Harry detailed how he ended up “unrecognizable” during an evening out before his quiet affair with Meghan became public knowledge.
Harry wrote that the couple, along with Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank, attended an “apocalypse” themed party at Soho House in Toronto in 2016 for Halloween 2016. I would try again.”
He said he called a friend to help with the disguise: Hardy, who played the title role in 2015’s Mad Max.
“The whole thing?” Harry said Hardy asked him to. – Yes, please, buddy! The whole set,” Harry told his friend.
“He gave it all to me before I left the UK and now I’ve tried it on in Meg’s little bathroom,” Harry wrote. “When I left, she roared with laughter.”
Harry said his costume was “fun and a little scary”.
“But the most important thing was that I was unrecognizable,” said Harry. He added that Meghan was wearing “torn black shorts, a camo top, fishnet stockings.”
Harry said as they made their way through the party, heads turned to Meghan, whose costume didn’t disguise her as well as her then-boyfriend, “but nobody looked twice at her dystopian date.”
“I wish I could wear that disguise every day,” said Harry. “I wished I could use it again the next day and visit her on the set of Suits.
Harry wrote that the party, their last outing in disguise, was “loud, dark, drunk – perfect”, noting that they had been “warned” that “another apocalypse could come” the next day when “everything changed forever.” .
By the time he reached London, he said the story had “burned out” because “everything was unconfirmed and there were no pictures, so there was nothing to fuel it.”
“Maybe, I thought, everything will be fine,” Harry wrote. “No. The calm before the shit storm.”
In October 2016, rumors began to circulate that Meghan and Harry were dating, but it wasn’t until November 2016 that the royal family publicly confirmed this relationship.
The announcement came in a statement from the Royal Communications Secretary on November 8, 2016, in which Prince Harry confirmed the relationship and criticized the “wave of abuse and harassment” Meghan had faced since reports of their dating began circulating.
