Paizo responded to Hasbro’s license by announcing a new one
Paizo, the company behind Pioneer and Starseeker, announced that it plans to create another license after the Wizards of the Coast controversy. Leaked documents earlier suggested that Hasbro was going to change its license, forcing people who make money from TTRPGs like Dungeons and dragonsto pay a license fee on income exceeding a certain threshold.
This is Paizo distancing itself from Hasbro’s situation by creating an open license that is similar to the existing license and allowing players to do what they want with the games royalty-free. Reaction to Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast has been fierce, so this move isn’t too surprising. Kobold Press previously announced that one of its games was also leaving the license.
John Carpenter could confirm a Dead space movie
Famous director and generally cool guy John Carpenter may have just confirmed that a Dead space the movie is in preparation. For the uninitiated, the Director of halloween and Escape from New York is a different gamer, and one of his favorite game franchises is The Dead space franchise. So much so that he has spoken about his interest in doing it several times over the years Dead space movie.
In a recent interview with Variety, the idea of Carpenter making a Dead space the movie reappeared. In the middle of the interview, Carpenter said, “I think they already have another director involved.” This would lead to the belief that a Dead space the movie is actually in development. But even if he was wrong and there’s no film in the works, a remake of the original game in the franchise is set to release later this month. So there’s something else for Dead space fans waiting for.
Launch Trailer Hitman: Freelancer was released
Free update for all newly rebranded owners Hitman: World of Assassination (formerly killer 3) is fast approaching and to let people know, IO Interactive has released a new cinematic trailer. Hitman: Freelancer new roguelike mode is coming Hitman: World of Assassinationand will change the way you play Hitman. Interestingly, you can load into missions and not be guaranteed to clear your objectives based on what you brought with you.
This mode gives you your own customizable hideout, but more importantly, your own arsenal of weapons and tools you’ll need to take down your targets. But first you have to find them. You can watch the trailer in the tweet above, and the update is expected to arrive across all versions of the game on January 26, 2023.
Three games are free on the Epic Games Store this week
The Epic Games Store announced that three games are free this week: First class trouble, gamedek, and Divine Knockout (DKO). Divine knockout was released just a few months ago and is a platform fighting game developed by Red Beard Games. gamedec is a 2021 point-and-click adventure game developed by Anshar Studios, and First class trouble is a mystery-based party game similar to among us which was also released in 2021, developed by Invisible Walls. Make sure you pick up all these games before they stop being free!
The nominations for the DICE Awards have been announced
It’s that time of year again as the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences announced the nominations for the upcoming DICE Awards, celebrating the best in video games in 2022. No wonder that God of War Ragnarok led in nominations, with a total of 12 in various categories. Another PlayStation exclusive came second Horizon Forbidden West receiving eight nominations and Ring of the Elden is third out of seven.
