Meloco Kyoran from NIJISANJI EN is a self-proclaimed longtime fan of the VTuber agency. The XSOLEIL star had to get in by whatever means necessary —so when she could no longer join the JP squad using her native language, she sacrificed everything to create EN.

The NIJISANJI EN chapter has diverse backgrounds and an ever-growing membership. Not everyone comes from the “western world”, with a wide range of languages and cultures represented under one roof.

One such member is Meloco Kyoran. The XSOLEIL star, who made her debut just a month ago, is a native speaker of Japanese. It would have made sense if she had tried to join the main Japanese branch of NIJISANJI, but that didn’t happen.

She was answering fans’ questions on stream when one asked why she debuted in the EN branch and the JP branch using her native language. It was a fairly simple explanation: there was no clear path for her.

“Why am I not in JP and debuting in EN instead? There are a lot more people who are curious than what I thought,” she mused, according to the translation. “Since my debut, I still lack English, and I’m a streamer with a strong need for self-acceptance.

“Why is this happening, my life has always been a battle royale, and when I’m in the middle of it, NIJISANJI JP has open auditions. In the last two years, they’ve said that “we’ve shut down our normal audition format.”

While she did not directly address this, it potentially suggests that NIJISANJI is relying on its in-house Virtual Talent Academy (VTA) program to recruit new Japanese members, rather than open auditions like other affiliates.

VTA trains VTubers from the get-go, starting with basic streams until they feel confident enough to move into a full-fledged NIJISANJI ecosystem. Launching in June 2021, the program is starting to attract new talent.

Meloco had just missed the boat and was a bit on hiatus, so she turned her gaze to the newly-debuting NIJISANJI EN, who was holding auditions around the same time.

Meloco Kyoran finally got into NIJISANJI from XSOLEIL after many auditions before, as she revealed.

“Many things happened - NIJISANJI EN was born and the audition for the first generation was held,” she said. “I was a kid who watched NIJISANJI all the time, so I had to join so badly. I wanted to join.

Meloco revealed that she originally auditioned for the first generation of NIJISANJI EN but was rejected due to her inexperience as she claims.

“I applied for a first generation audition. I never discussed it with anyone, not even my peers. I applied but didn’t pass.

“I was rejected… I think because I had no entertainment [or streaming] experiences, and I was just a little girl [who was a fan] What can a little girl like me do? Of course I didn’t, I was just a dreamy girl.

“I was a bit shocked when I failed to pass and couldn’t watch any NIJISANJI EN for a while. I’ve watched clips from time to time, but yeah.”

She then spent the following months working hard on her English skills to become more proficient, until she finally moved on to the seventh generation of NIJISANJI EN with XSOLEIL.

“I was surprised when I found out – I thought, ‘I’m getting accepted?’ I was really happy. After doing this and that, I ended up in NIJISANJI EN – that’s the whole story.”

Now it’s thriving, with many complimenting Meloco on her ability to pick up English so quickly after only a few years, and continuing her rapid growth as the fastest growing VTuber on the wave.
